<Sent to multiple lists. Sorry for the duplication.>

Prospero for Windows 2000/NT/98/95 is a Web-based
document delivery system designed as a complement
to the Ariel ® software system. Ariel is a product of the
Research Libraries Group (RLG) which allows libraries to
use the Internet to exchange documents through interlibrary
loan.

Prospero contains two parts. The first is a staff module
which captures and converts Ariel files (TIFF images) to
Web accessible documents (PDF files). The PDF files
are then posted on a secure web server. This module also
manages user information and generates email to the patron.
The second module is a server-side / user interface which
allows patrons to retrieve their documents using a Web
browser.

Visit http://bones.med.ohio-state.edu/prospero/ for
additional information and download.

Version 1.01 Features

- No longer relies upon ImageMagick to convert the Ariel
TIFF files to PDF. A custom Ariel-PDF converter has been
created. This has resulted in a much smaller file to download
and more importantly, *faster conversion times.* It also has
eliminated the appending of the file extensions .0, .1, .2 etc.
which some users had been experiencing.

- Added a drop down menu which allows staff to select
email addresses from the user database when a document
is queued. As the email address is typed, it fills in the remaining
address dynamically from the database.

- A demo patron interface site is now available so prospective
users can get a better feel of what it is like. Of course, it can
be customized.
