We're launching our laptop program this fall - requisite purchase for
incoming students - and the standard model (IBM ThinkPad600 series or
better) will have something like 16 million colors (24 bit?) with a max.
resolution of 1024x768.

How does this affect web page design? All the usual constraints, er,
"rules" still apply ... we must always consider HTML validation, browser
limitations on X-Windows stations, run-of-the-mill Wintel stations (and now
laptops), Macs, the W3C's Web Accessibility Initiative, etc., etc.
