Dear colleagues,

The Library Resource Sharing division of the Texas State Library and
Archives Commission is evaluating new server purchases, both immediate
and future. A variety of Internet-based services are currently hosted
on our servers and new services will be introduced over the coming
years. Our server operating system environment is presently mixed and
includes SCO, Linux, NT and Macintosh, with SCO and NT predominant. We
are evaluating several factors to determine future OS and would like
feedback from colleagues in libraries providing multiple Internet-based
library services. Specifically, we are interested in:

Do you support multiple server OS or a single OS for your Internet
services?
If single, what OS have you settled on and why?
If multiple, please characterize your experience in providing technical
and administrative support for these servers.

Brief answers are just fine. I appreciate your assistance.
