Assistant Librarian/Head of Electronic Services/Reference Librarian

Electronic Services/Reference Librarian/Assistant Librarian.  
The Schurz Library at Indiana University South Bend seeks an energetic,
motivated, and creative professional with a strong service orientation to
lead its electronic services program.  Responsibilities include planning
and coordinating the use of current and emerging electronic technologies
for the delivery of reference  services; maintaining and enhancing the
library*s Web site; and working with vendors and consortia in selecting new
electronic resources.  Additional responsibilities include working
regularly scheduled hours at the reference desk (including evening
and weekend rotation) and participation in a highly active instruction
program.  Required: ALA- MLS; proven skills in database management, online
searching, and Web page creation; ability to work as a team leader and team
member as well as independently; strong oral and written communication
skills; ability to relate effectively to varied clientele.  Instructional
and academic reference experience strongly preferred.  Must be able to meet
the responsibilities of a tenure-track appointment.   Reports to the
Director of Library Services. Twelve-month appointment at the Assistant
Librarian rank; preferred starting date, January, 2000.  Salary:
$32,800-$36,900.  Screening of applications will begin October 4, 1999;
