In the Circuits section of the paper <http://www.nytimes.com/> today:
Hafner, Katie. Books to Bytes: The Electronic Archive: Research Libraries
Grapple with the Task of Preserving the Digital Present. New York Times,
April 8, 1999, ppE1, E5.

A great general overview of the issues facing academic libraries with their
electronic collections. Interviews with people at Digital Library
Federation, Yale University Libraries, School of Information Science at
University of Michigan, Rand Corporation. I thought she captured the
opinions and technology issues well, but she missed the Digital Libraries
site at Berkeley! <http://sunsite.berkeley.edu>

also:
Molotsky, Irvin, Acessible by Modem, The Library of Congress. New York
Times, April 8, 1999, pE5.
Another visit to the American Memory website and a plug for the American
Memory Fellows (to show teachers how to use the collection in the
classroom) and National Digital Library. Great projects, IMO.
