REFERENCE LIBRARIAN/OUTREACH LIBRARIAN

Position description: Responsible for reference services and outreach
activities with distance education faculty.  Reports to Head of Reference
Services.  Reference duties include using traditional and electronic
resources including the Internet, participating in library instruction
program (tours, classroom instruction), working one night per week and one
Saturday morning every six weeks by rotation.  Outreach responsibilties
include proactive involvement with faculty who provide distance education,
working with on-site librarians or other support persons,  surveying
faculty and students concerning library needs, and may involve occasional
trips to various off campus sites.   Also participates in library liaison
program, working with departments and departmental library coordinators in
agriculture, biology, chemistry, earth sciences, mathematics, and physics,
addressing collection development issues, as well as other library matters,
 on behalf of academic departments.  Benefits include 12 days paid sick
leave; choice of retirement and group health plans; university holidays;
and 84 hours of vacation per year for the first two years, increasing with
longevity to 168 hours per year after 20 years.

Qualifications:
Required: ALA-accredited MLS degree prior to appointment.

Experience:
Preferred: Degree or coursework in the natural sciences or mathematics,
outreach or distance education work experience, or reference experience in
an academic library.

Salary range:  $32,042-$33,993

  Transcripts (unoffical accepted).  Must provide offical transcripts upon
appointment.
  Proof of eligibility to work in the United States is required of all

  States citizenship, citizenship eligibility, or authorization to work in
the U.S. on a full-time basis.
