You will find the first line under the purpose is:

"The Web4Lib electronic discussion is for the discussion of issues relating to
the creation and management of library- based World-Wide Web servers and
clients."

The article Roy Tenant referred to the list is directly related to the purpose
of this list. I too receive Jesse Berst's AnchorDesk from ZD, although I feel
sure there are many people on the list who do not. And, I DO appreciate when
someone sends information to the list that is pertinent to the Web and
libraries. I do not have time to sit back in my office and subscribe to every
list or ejournal that relates to the Web so I am immensely pleased when someone
takes the time to redirect my attention to something that might be useful to my
work or interest. As a matter of fact, I used those "lies" for a html editing
presentation I gave for the library the very next day after I read the
article. And as you say, that article in particular "Should be required
reading for anyone...", how is "anyone" going to find out about the article if
they are not subscribed to the "Anchor Desk"? I'm sure that I'm not the only
one that only subscribes to a limited number of lists, ejournals, etc. because
of a limited amount of time that can be spent doing such and perform other
duties of my job. There have been references by a number of subscribers to
articles and papers I would not have known about in short order were it not for
people that shared what they found. At the same time I'm not saying send the
hot topic of the day every day.

Second, I totally, whole heartily, emphatically, ...y, ...y and ..y agree that
this is not the list to be discussing opinions on filtering, leave that to the
filtering list I have my on opinion and will implement as I see fit in my
library or as requested by the controlling parties of the library. Now if
someone wants to know what kind of filtering software does x y or z for web
stuff then this would probably be a good list to send that request. But most
people I expect are already aware of this.

Thanx for the reference Roy, keep sending ! ! !
