Dialog Web reliability

The latest issue of Online has a review that says the new units result in a
pretty substantial increase in cost. It also says that it was designed to
get rid of small individual users like me. Are there any services out there
that can be searched on a variety of extensive databases on a pay-as-you-go
basis?

Thanks,
Paul Deane
