In case you're wondering...yes, I am taking care of this. Just one more
response (automated or not) to crush puppies or anything else that
is completely off-topic for this list and...

Dear <web4lib>,

Thank you so much for your interest in our Canine Responders United
Service to Puppies (CRUSh Puppy Abuse) program. We are glad you support
our efforts to rescue young dogs from undesireable circumstances.

As you know, there is no time like youth to instill healthy, productive
attitudes in our pets. So much the more tragic then, when we hear of
such terrible abuses to young dogs--proportionally more abuse than to
any other animal.

Just last month there were reports from San Bernardino of a 3-month old
Shihtzu whose owner put the leash on the wrong end of the body and had
the dog run along (in reverse)while the owner rode his bike for at least
7-8 miles.

This was in all likelihood unintentional, but the result is that the now
5-month old Shihtzu is still confused to the point that he always walks
backwards, and when defecating, he squats backwards with his face to the
ground and his rear in the air, only then to do his duty. Very messy.

If the owner of this unfortunate animal had contacted the CRUSH Puppy
Abuse program, we would have been able to offer leash tying advice,
front- and back-end pet recognition tips, onsite trauma response, and a
host of other services that could have mitigated the negative effects of
this incident.

Through the efforts of the CRUSH Puppy Abuse program, we have responded
to hundreds of potentially harmful situations and have helped dozens of
puppies have a normal, happy upbringing.

Thank you so much for your concern and your interest in our services.
The American Society for Small Animal Welfare will soon be sending you
an automated email response form outlining the several avenues in which
you can help--including the CRUSh Puppy Abuse program and other similar,
worthwhile programs.

Through the efforts of people such as yourself, we are making the world
a better place for small animals--one small animal at a time.

Thanks again,
Nestor Lipps
