        JOINT RLG AND NPO PRESERVATION CONFERENCE
        Guidelines for Digital Imaging

        An international three-day residential conference
        organized by RLG, NPO, and JISC
        and coordinated by UKOLN

        at Scarman House, University of Warwick
        Monday 28, Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 September 1998

        Cost: 295 pounds sterling per delegate

This international conference, which carries the overall theme of
Guidelines for Digital Imaging, will include speakers from the United
States and the United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada.  It will be a
working conference, designed for those with experience in digital
imaging project who wish to contribute toward international agreement
on best practices and uniform approaches to reformatting of library,
archival and museum collections through digitization.

In addition to a keynote address given by Anne R. Kenney (Cornell University)
there are three major sessions on:-
 (1) Selection for digital imaging
 (2) Preparation of materials for digitization
 (3) Digital image capture
Each of these topics will be addressed by speakers from the US and the UK;
conference participants will choose one of the three topics for intensive work
to outline common practices and reach consensus on draft guidelines.

Update presentations will be given on
 (1) Preservation metadata
 (2) Digital preservation

And an international panel of experts will provide responses to the
conference at its close (speakers include representatives from the
UK, Canada, and Australia).

after this date will incur a cancellation fee of 50 pounds sterling.
