PROFESSIONAL POSITION AVAILABLE

LIBRARIAN IV or V
COORDINATOR AND HEAD, LIBRARY INFORMATION SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY

GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This position will provide creative leadership and direction in an
increasingly collaborative and user-oriented environment for the full
array of information systems and technology use in the University Library.
This position will report to the Director of Libraries and collaborate
with and provide system support for staff in all areas.


QUALIFICATIONS 
Professional degree in library science from an American Library
Association-accredited library school.  At least ten years of experience
in a comparable library situation, including not less than three in
library systems.  Substantial experience with a complex, automated library
information system including a vendored ILS.  Experience with networked
information environments and familiarity with digital imaging and database
creation.  Experience with Web site creation and development.  Familiarity
and/or experience with writing CGI, Java, PERL scripts.  Demonstrated
successful managerial ability and leadership skills, including complex
project management, prototyping and budgeting.  Thorough knowledge of
organization, administration and principles of automated information
services.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, commitment to
collaborative work environment, and ability to handle multiple priorities
in a library embracing advanced information technologies.  Demonstrated
competence with LAN/WAN, communication protocols, and client-server
technology.  Familiarity with multiple operating systems such as Windows
3.x, Windows 95, WindowsNT, OS/2, Macintosh, UNIX, and multiple network
protocols such as TCP/IP and Novell.  Information systems/technology or
computer science degree or coursework preferred.  Experience in library
system serving multiple libraries preferred.

SALARY:  Commensurate with qualifications.
