        UKOLUG's 20th Birthday Conference
         The Manchester Conference Centre
               14 - 16 July 1998

This is the 8th UKOLUG Conference and takes place in the Group's 20th birthday
year. The programme covers topics linked to the theme of New Networks, Old
Information.

The Conference will take place in the Weston Building at the Manchester
Conference Centre, which is situated at the heart of the city near the UMIST
campus. The facilities in the conference centre are excellent and the Weston
Theatre with tiered seating is quoted as being "the best lecture theatre in
Manchester". The modern hotel bedrooms are above the conference centre in the
Weston Building, which also houses the restaurant and bars.

In addition to a varied programme of sessions (see below), there will be two
social evening events at which delegates can meet with other like-minded
members of the profession, and enjoy good food, wine and conversation. As this
is also the 20th birthday party, there will (of course) be a birthday cake!

Costs and booking details are given at the end of this message. Places and
accommodation are limited so please book early to avoid disappointment!
