The LITA Technical Issues of Digital Data IG (TIDDIG) will host a
discussion on the process of setting up and administering a library digital
imaging center at the ALA Midwinter Conference in Philadelphia. Speaker
Eileen Mathias, Coordinator, Greenfield Digital Imaging Center at the Ewell
Sale Stewart Library of the Academy of Natural Sciences, will talk about
the ongoing planning and purchasing process at her library, where, when
operational, the image center will create images of both museum specimens
and library materials. Greg Bear, Information Designer, Annenberg Rare Book
& Manuscript Library at the University of Pennsylvania Library, will talk
about Penn's Schoneberg Center for Text & Electronic Images, including
digital imaging, basic technical issues, and personal experiences along the
way. The discussion will take place from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday
January 30th, in the Bentwood Room at the Clarion Suites hotel. Time will
be allowed after the speakers for questions and audience participation, and
a short business meeting. Please join us!
