CALL FOR PAPERS
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
German-Dutch University Conference
INFORMATION SPECIALISTS FOR THE 21ST CENTURY
Hanover, Germany, 14-15 October 1999
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
http://Conference99.fh-hannover.de/

The conference is organized by the Department of Information and
Communication Science, Fachhochschule Hannover, Germany,
and the Information Services and Management Programme,
Hogeschool IJselland, Deventer, The Netherlands, to celebrate 10
years of co-operation.

We like to take this opportunity to critically look at our work and at
our responsibilities as lecturers, keeping one objective in mind: to
educate highly qualified specialists in the field of information and
communications science and prepare them for the 21st century.

We kindly invite all colleagues, at home and abroad, and all
professionals active in this field to celebrate with us the anniversary
and to join the discussion on the future of information specialists
and the impact that practical work has on the course of studies.

The core questions of the conference will be:
- What contents, methods and aims are relevant for the education
of information professionals?
- What kind of education is required to meet the demands of a
rapidly changing structure of professions and jobs?
- What kind of skills and abilities are required by employers?
- How can the professional field be involved in the educational
process?
- How can we, as lecturers, establish the kind of interest that
makes our students take an active part in the learning process?
- How can we implement a long-life learning process course of
studies?
- Moreover, what kind of impact will internationalization and
international degrees have?
These are only a few questions, but many others await an answer.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Proposals (including title, abstract and affiliation) should be
received at the conference office by the 6th of January 1999 (see

February. Full papers are due on the 1st of July 1999.
