ASSISTANT UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN for Library Information Technology,
University of Hawaii Library, available January 1999.  This is a
full-time, annually renewable managerial position. 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Under the direction of the University Librarian,
provides professional leadership and creative direction for information
technology efforts and the Library computing, networks and academic
information systems.  Leads the Library Information Technology Division
which is comprised of the Systems Department and the Desktop Network
Services Dept.  Exercises administrative responsibility for planning,
developing, organizing, staffing, directing, budgeting and evaluating
library information technology resources in support of access to
information, operations and training.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Master's degree in Library Science, Information
Science, Computer Science or related field; eight years of progressively
responsible experience in large research or academic libraries or other
academic or research libraries information providers, at least five of
which have been in an administrative capacity in library systems and
technology management.  Demonstrated leadership/management experience and
ability to provide direction to a diverse staff.  In addition to these
minimum qualifications, there are technical and interpersonal
qualifications required.

PAY RANGE: M04, $48,696-$76,356 annual.
