Sending CTRL before timeout

Does anyone know of any apps that work with Netscape 4.0+ and will send
something like a CTRL/LF after inactivity.  I checked the archives and
didn't find anything but I have a feeling that this has been discussed before.
I know that I can set a telnet connection to send CTRL/LF after 10 minutes
of inactivity and want to know if there is a way to do this in Netscape.
IE 3 would do but I prefer Netscape.
