 Position Announcement
                            Systems Librarian
                    University of Nebraska at Omaha

        Manages the computer systems of the University Library including
GENISYS, an Innovative Interfaces online public access catalog and its
modules for acquisitions, cataloging, serials, and circulation; a CD-ROM
LAN with reference databases; an extensive web site; and other
applications.  Participates in planning, implementing and testing new
computer applications.  Recommends equipment and software for purchase and
works with vendors as necessary.  Provides training to library staff in
the use of new equipment, software, and remote information sources.
Exercises leadership and project management duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
        Required Qualifications:  ALA-accredited MLS.  Two years of
experience with library systems including integrated library systems and
networking or a degree in computer science.  Supervisory and/or project
management experience.  Excellent communication skills including training
skills.  Desirable Qualifications:  Experience with Innovative Interfaces,
knowledge of personal computers, operating systems (Windows 95/NT, UNIX,
Mac OS), applications and communications software.


SALARY/BENEFITS:
      Salary range is $40,000 - $47,000 for a 12-month contract.  The
position is tenure track with a supportive environment for scholarship and
service.  Benefits include 24 days annual leave, 12 paid holidays,
TIAA/CREF, and a flexible benefit package.


SETTING:
        The University of Nebraska at Omaha is a metropolitan university
with approximately 14,000 students situated in a residential area
surrounded by parkland.  The library has a staff of 56 and houses more
than 1.5 million items.  Omaha offers a growing economy and a community
that supports an array of vibrant arts, music, and theater organizations.
