Is your computer center assuring you that Netscape is bug-free in all
respects?  Or are they really saying, "Please require us to support and
work around only one set of bugs"?

For what it's worth, MSIE 5.0b1 supports non-standard gopher ports, e.g.
gopher://gopher.vt.edu:10010/10/33
