Assistant Director of Operations and Administration: 
Arlington Public Library, Arlington Texas. 

Supervises public service personnel and facilities in the Library 
System consisting of a Central Library and four branches.  Arlington
is a city of 300,000 in the heart of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.  
The library budget is $3.7 million, supplemented with bond funds 
for construction and collection development.  The renovation and 
expansion of two branches, and construction of a new branch, has
been completed in the last year.  The design for expansion of a 
fourth branch is underway.  Circulation has increased 25 percent 
over the last three years.  

The position will require someone with a strong customer service 
orientation and the ability to manage change effectively.  Experience 
necessary in organizational development, formulating operational 
policies and procedures, planning and conducting staff training, 
applying continuous process improvement techniques to public service 
operations, facilitating the work of cross-functional teams, and 
selecting and using electronic resources.  

Position requires a Master's Degree in Library Science from an 
ALA accredited program, five years of experience in a professional 
public service position in a public library, with a minimum of two years 
of these in a supervisory capacity.  Excellent benefits package.
