During installation, Opera asks if you want it to be your default browser
(at least during the install of 3.0 beta).  I'll bet you just clicked okay
without paying too much attention to that and it became your default browser
for all htm or html files...   I just installed it and told it NOT to become
my default browser so I still have IE4 and Netscape as options (IE4 is
currently my default).
