Yes, this is fairly simple. You have to define the new mime-type
"application/msword" on both the server and the appropriate clients
before it will work though.  
How you define it on the server varies depending on what server
software you are using, but look in the configuration files. The
mime-types are defined there somewhere. 
In Netscape 3.0, go to "Options", "General Preferences", and then
"helpers" and define the new mime-type. The process is similar for other
browsers and versions of Netscape.

Just curious if anyone knows if this can be done.  My intranet server 
adminstrator is away, and since the server is in Montreal I can't test  this
myself.  
      I'm wondering if so-called "smart" forms created as word template
files  (*.dot) can be placed on a web server and launched properly by a
local  copy of Word.  Will simply making the appropriate file association
on  the server (and in the browser) allow this to happen as it does with 
regular documents?  Has anyone done this successfully?
