Pull the plug -- libraries aren't common carriers

I have been watching this whole discussion with great interest and also
with disgust. I see librarians suggesting that we have twowlevels of
access to library service. That makes me sick to my stomache. I've
seen what amounts to virtual idiocy about suggesting that we "pull the
plug" on internet services. That is stupid and undoable (excuse the
flame!!). The internet is here to stay, pornography is here to stay,
prudes are here to stay. There are no technological fixes to this
"problem". The responsibility is in the hands of the user no matter
what age that person is. Teenagers and adolescents are curious and will
get information on "porn" any place they can find it. I am not
advocating us setting up pointers to such things but I am advocating
against blocking software and such. Thank you.
