Hello all,

For those folks who's web based opacs are not yet up to snuff and who want
to use active URLs in 856 MARC fields, you may want to contact Hummingbird
Communications, Ltd (http://www.hcl.com/) for their HostExplorer terminal
emulation product (used to be from McGill University)...works in Win3.x,
95 & NT.

I can atest to this being a top-notch terminal emulator (customizable for
both staff & public use). What's a nice feature is that by clicking on the
bib. record's url in the terminal session, a browser you designate is
automatically launched, heading to the cataloged url. Once you're done
with the Web site & close the browser, you're back at your catalog search
session. This may keep some folks from loosing their opac session after a
few minutes of clicking through web sites.

Now if we could just get some folks to catalog more Internet stuff in our
holdings and a web-based opac that was more reliable....

David
