Help request.

I am trying to use GIF format pictures in Microsoft PowerPoint 4.0.

According to the program help file, it should be able to accept the
following formats: BMP, GIF, TIFF.

Yet, when I go to the Insert option, it lists only these 9 formats: CGM,
DIB, EPS, HGL, PCT, PCX, TIF, WFM, WPG.

Attempts to access a GIF file produce an message "THere is no graphic
filter that can read ...".

What am I missing? Should I re-install choosing the "full / complete"
option as opposed to the "typical"?
