z39.50 and firewalls

We are trying to set up Gaylord Galaxy's superbrowse i.e.  a web based opac.  It has a z39.50 client which operates on port 210. Despite the fact that we have configured inbound and outbound proxies on our firewall which uses Borderware 3.1.1.1 we still can not connect to any z39.50 sites.  Superbrowse is loaded on our vax, which uses VMS operating system.  The vax is  located behind the firewall.

Has anyone had any success connecting to z39.50 sites behind a firewall.
