Do people "pass by" plain-text sites?

At the GTU Library we have our public Internet station configured to load
graphics after the rest of the page so that patrons don't have to wait to
start using links.

I find it annoying when I try to connect to a page and have to wait for a
large graphic that I could care less about to load.

Our own library web pages are intentionally image weak to make them load
faster.

I hold that fast loading pages are viewer friendly pages and try to keep
what graphics we do have small (in 'k' that is).

On my personal pages I have very few graphics at all as I consider the
value of my pages to be the content not pictures. Plus I've been a little
lazy about getting permission to use the few images I do plan to eventually
ad to some of my pages.
