Web/client- based cataloguing?

Hello,

I am a swedish librarian working as a cataloguer at the Royal Library in Stockholm. My questions to the list are:

Does anyone know of any example where web/client software (ex JAVA) is used for cataloguing (i.e a web-based catalogue module) ? Has anyone written about the State-of- the- art?
