University of Missouri-Rolla

Public Services/Reference Librarian. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: The librarian will work in a team-based centralized reference environment
in an academic library providing comprehensive reference services on a campus with a strong
science and engineering focus. Emphasis is on electronic resources and instructional services.
Will participate in an active library instruction program; serve as departmental liaison to selected
departments for acquisition of materials and provide specialized information services. Will work
evenings and weekends on a rotational basis.

REQUIREMENTS: MLS from ALA-accredited program; strong public service orientation;
Experience with library computer applications and electronic information resources. Knowledge
of trends in library instruction. Ability to work effectively in a demanding and rapidly changing
environment. 

DESIRED: Understanding of information needs in engineering and science and the application of
information technologies. Reference experience in an academic library. Experience in library and
electronic resources instruction. Degree or relevant experience in engineering or science. Ability
to work comfortably in a computer intensive environment. Interest in new information
technologies. Experience with WWW applications. Experience with online database searching
(DIALOG, STN, etc.).


University of Missouri-Rolla

Electronic Resources/Reference Librarian:(Position contingent upon funding.)

RESPONSIBILITIES: The librarian will work in a team-based centralized reference
environment in an academic library providing comprehensive reference services on a campus
with a strong science and engineering focus. Emphasis is on electronic resources and
instructional services. Will participate in an active library instruction program; serve as
departmental liaison to selected departments for acquisition of materials and provide
specialized information services. Will work evenings and weekends on a rotational basis. Is
responsible for coordinating, planning, evaluating, managing and recommending CD-ROM,
stand-alone software and online resources and for training and assisting staff with software 
applications.

REQUIREMENTS: MLS from ALA-accredited program. Strong public service orientation.
Ability to work effectively in a demanding and rapidly changing environment.Must have the
ability to work comfortably in a computer intensive environment and with applications of new
information technologies for the reference library operations and services. Experience with
WWW applications (HTML, CGI Script, etc.).
