TELECOMMUTING AND CATALOGING: ALTERNATIVES TO TRADITIONAL
                           TECHNICAL SERVICES

LIBRES, an electronic, peer-reviewed, international scholarly
journal devoted to Library and Information Science Research, is pleased
to announce a special issue dedicated to the topic of telecommuting and
cataloging. Articles on telecataloging, indexing, and remote serial
cataloging at Northwestern University are featured, as well as numerous
announcements on various topics and conferences in librarianship. I
would like to encourage discussion on this topic, and would appreciate
any and all comments regarding the ideas and challenges presented by
these authors. This special issue of LIBRES may be found at:

                 http://indigo.lib.lsu.edu/epubs/libres/

A moderated discussion of this topic will take place on the SILS list
from the University of Michigan listserv in mid-August, and the
announcement will be sent to various library cataloging lists as well.
I would encourage those who are interested to participate in this
  discussion.

In the meantime, please examine and read this new issue of LIBRES.
