	Rutgers University Libraries invites applications for the
position of Systems Programmer. Reporting to the Head of Systems and
Database Management, the successful candidate will provide software and
administrative support for the Libraries online system. Rutgers is in
the process of selecting a new system and the responsibilities for this
position will include installing, testing, debugging, and maintaining
the new software as well as data extraction and migration from the existing
Geac and Innopac systems.  The programmer will prepare documentation and
develop operational routines to ensure integrity of fiscal,
bibliographic, and patron data as well as offline programs and files.
In addition, the successful candidate will work with library operations
staff to integrate software and procedural changes and provide informed
consultation support to other systems department staff and librarians
working on hardware and software projects interfacing with the library
system.

REQUIREMENTS:
	Requires a bachelor's degree in computer science or related
field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience,
and two years of relevant experience working in library automation
support. Preferred experience includes providing library access to
networked information; extensive use of the World Wide Web; knowledge of
Unix operating systems, HTML, CGI, and related programming languages.
