I agree.  Nice as Java is on Unix platform, the PC level simply is not
ready to handle the complex of computation needed for Java.  It is quite
slow even for MicroSoft Blackbird to run on a ThinkingPad for a
newspaper page (a simple page ran 15 minutes in a recent competitive
analysis demo I attended).  So, wait for the future or buy some inexpensive
unix terminals hooked up with a powerful unix box.  But currently, the
mainstream of any library computing setups are PC environment.
