I believe that the programming model that Sun wishes to espouse is that of
simplicity and modularity.  It is sort of similar to the modular furniture
approach used by IKEA. (Of, "It's a big country.  Somebody has to furnish
it." fame.)  Give people a variety of pieces and let them put them toegether
in a way suitable to their own style of work.

I mean Who really uses _all_ of the features of MS Word or Word Perfect?
What if you could purchase a very simple word processor as a base unit, and
then purchase code add-ins on an as needed basis?  You only pay for what you
need when you need it.  The result - a much faster product that is
infinitely customizable and that does not take up your entire 1 Gig drive.  :-)

Of course, this is only a guess...
